Killer Lake in Northern Tanzania – 5 pics
Although these pictures look like they are picked from some horror movie or even remind of mythical river Styx, these are actually carcasses of animals unfortunate enough to take a swim in Lake Natron in northern Tanzania. Due to strange chemical setup of the lake, temperatures reaching 60° and alkalinity between 9 and 10.5 pH, rare are the creatures that can survive this lake. Following photos were captured by Nick Brandt who collected calcified carcasses and placed them in more “natural” positions before taking these creepy shots for his new book.
