Some things in life are so precious and unique that there isn’t anything like them in the world. Up until recently, pandas were so close to extinction that almost every single individual was practically so precious it could be considered the only one in the world. Thankfully, in the years before we have seen enormous efforts by many amazing agencies and people and we have recently heard the news that pandas are now considered vulnerable, which means they are no longer endangered. However, even with this giant cuties one step further from extinction, there is still one panda bear that is so unique that he truly is the only one in the world.
The seventh son
Quizai is one of the only seven officially recorded brown panda bears in more than 25 years; that’s why he got his name, which means “The seventh son” in Chinese. He was abandoned when he was only two months old by his mother because he was, well, different. His fur color didn’t match the normal black and white that pandas have and was thus considered weak.

The Ugly Panda
Quizai had similar life story as The Ugly Duckling because he was constantly bullied while growing up because of fur skin color. However, just like the duck that turned into a beautiful swan in the story, Quizai grow up to be the most adorable panda bear in the world.

A gentle giant
Now that Quizai has grown, he no longer has to fear other pandas and no one dares take away his food now. However, he is still just a big baby and he is very gentle and loving animal. He thrived in captivity and he loves all the attention he gets for his uniqueness.

A rare family
Quizai is a part of a panda subspecies most commonly known as Quinling Pandas. They got their name after the isolated mounting range in China, named Quinling Mountains. These panda subspecies have the unique brown color, although most of them only have them in shades and on some parts of their body. Fully brown pandas like Quizai are extremely rare.

He eats a lot!
This unique panda bear might be different in color, but his eating habits are same as with other panda bears. Quizai can go through around 44 pounds of bamboo on a daily basis and he weights around 220 pounds. His keeper at Foping Panda Valley gets up at 6 am and goes to bed after midnight in order to keep up with his eating schedule.

He likes to go for a walk
Even though he is, as his keeper tells us, slower than other pandas, he still loves to explore his surroundings. He often goes for a walk, although never too far away. After all, he wouldn’t want to get lost in the wild when he is enjoying his life in the reserve.

Quizai is always up for a nap
This adorable panda isn’t that much different from others when his ability to rest for long time periods is in question. Pandas are generally known to be, well, kind of lazy, and Quizai sure tries to keep up with his relatives and friends.

He is constantly goofing around…
Quizai is a very playful panda. His size and age don’t matter to him since he always acts like a big and cute baby panda. He likes to play with balls and other objects, but most of the time he doesn’t even need that. He just spins around and does other funny things, so his popularity is not a surprise when you match his playfulness with his unique appearance.

Every animal lover will tell you that all animals are cute and pretty. However, I think some are just a little bit cuter than others. And Quizai takes the win in my book. His pretty and soft fur with special coloring is enough for you to melt, but his face always looks so sweet and adorable. I mean, just look at this photo. I know I would like to hug him all day!

He is preparing to be a dad
Since Quizai is all grown up now, the scientist and breeders at Foping Panda Valley are getting ready to find him a mate soon. They are not only excited for another giant panda bear that will come to this world, but given our only brown panda’s uniqueness in fur color they are hoping to find more information about why this discoloration happens.
