Why not both? It's sadly not uncommon for people to give away or even abandon their pets when they get a baby. Also, as weird as that sounds, I've known some people who decided to extend anti baby pill treatment because they loved their pet so much they couldn't give him away. I am sure you can think of both pros and cons for both decisions, but why should people be even forced to make such a decision?
