The Good Things Start With Ape Action Africa
Maybe this is not the only among organizations that support chimpanzees, but Ape Acton Africa is worth to be mentioned worldwide. This is Larry, one of their babies that had a sad destiny and a life he maybe didn’t want to have. He was born in Ape Action Africa, Cameroon as a baby of a chimp Loko. She was a part of a closed group where the pregnancy was controlled, and when Larry came, everybody was surprised.

The Help Was Needed
As a new member of a closed group, he was not in a good position. These monkeys didn’t know how to behave with babies and one night he got the injuries from Billie Jean, female from this group. It was obvious the baby needed a vet and another way to survive. This is how he changed his mother with a bottle of milk and love from the people who are working in this organization.

The Recovery Process
Well, maybe you wonder why workers didn’t try to keep Larry together with his mother. They did, but she was behaving strange, keeping him away from her breasts. Beside all, she didn’t have milk, so Larry was on his own. Although he had a broken nose from the night with Billie Jean, he was still doing fine, and the recovery was going in a right way.

Going to the Wild
We cannot say that people from Ape left him alone in the wild, but they let him explore. He was a very curious baby and everything he saw was like a real attraction. Meeting another species was of particular importance, as that was an excellent opportunity for Larry to find out a bit more about everyday life.

Like in every job, volunteers are welcome. Thanks to Stephanie Brien, volunteering vet in Ape Action Africa, Daphne had a full recovery treatment. She needed this, as she survived a hell. She was the only one left from her family that was killed before her arrival. But, thanks to immense love and care, Daphne recovered and started to eat different and exciting food.

Little Cheater
For a monkey that was raised without a birth mother, Daphne is a quite tricky animal. She is a real cheater, and you will see her carry-on different things around. This toothbrush is only one of many things she has stolen. Thanks to her restless spirit, she quickly fits into the surroundings and started to hang out with Larry.

Leave My Ball and Stay Away
During the first moments of her stay in a new home, she was scared. Reaching her was hard. The people gave Paula time she needed, as they knew that was a natural process. The red ball was her best friend and shelter for some time. But, as the days passed, she became less scared and learned how to get over bad memories from the past.

Step by Step
It was hard to reach Paula, but persistence pays off. After many days she accepted the surroundings and new friends were introduced to her. The woman has been patient enough to make her very friendly. That was the best moment to introduce her Larry and Daphne, small chimpanzees from the first part of our story.

Learning How to Share
It is critical to teach children, even if they are animals, they should not be selfish. Paula and Daphne share fruit in this photo. However, the three of them share everything else, and they like this way of living. This is how they feel they belong to the community.

They Are Heavy but Precious
People from the organization love all chimpanzees from this group. Even now, when Larry, Daphne, and Paula are not babies anymore, they like to be on someone’s back. This man is doing his best to show his love. Although now he is carrying only Larry and Daphne, we can be sure that Paula is somewhere around, near to her friends. Hopefully, they will spend their lives together in peace and prosperity.
