There are valid reasons for both decisions, and most of the owners don't let their pets in bed because they think they'll sleep better, have more space etc. Some other let their cats and dogs into bed and they wake up on the floor or at the end of the bed. Doctor Luis Cran, a specialist in sleep medicine at the Mayo Clinic, interviewed 150 dog owners in order to determine the quality of their sleep, since no other clinic has done it before. It turned out that 20% of the interviewees had a problem with sleeping caused by a pet in their bed, while 41% of the owners considered that they slept much better since their furry friends have been making them company during the night. Many owners claimed that for them it is more comfortable to sleep with their pet, no matter the hairs or dirty paws in the bed, other advantages such as heating and taking care of each other, especially during the winter time, and feeling secure and loved while sleeping are more important. A different research showed that it is better to sleep with one pet than with many. The presence of numerous pets leaves less space for the owner, so people often sleep in unpleasant positions, waking up numb and not rested.
