Koko, the Gorilla Who Mourns the Passing of Robin Williams – 8 Pics + Video
Koko is a gorilla who has learned the sign language during her stay in The Gorilla Foundation in Woodside, California. Back in 2001, deceased comedian Robin Williams visited her and spent time with her. The Foundations founder and Koko's handler, Dr. Penny Patterson said that Robin and Koko bonded immediately. Robin spent his whole visit with Koko and it was obvious they both enjoyed it.

When the news of Robin's demise reached the Foundation, Patty explained to Koko that “we have lost a dear friend, Robin Williams”. After that, Koko was obviously saddened, and signed words for “women” and “crying”.

Koko will probably never be able to explain the depth of her feelings for Robin, but I think anyone who followed Robin's work through this whole time feels at least a bit of emptiness right now.
