Do you remember Koko, the gorilla? She's famous for couple of things, and today she'll add one more thing to the list. The first thing she's famous for is her solid knowledge of Sign Language, more specifically, a modified version of American Sign Language. Another thing she is known for is her hanging out with late Robin Williams and mourning for him after he passed away.

What is less known about her is that she adores babies, in spite of never having her own offspring. She often shows a sign for baby and carries toys in shape of a gorilla in her arms. She even pretends that her 'baby gorilla' can speak Sign Language, by moving its arms and hands.

That's why she got several kittens from her trainer Francine Petterson for her 44th birthday. During her first encounter with the kittens, she made a sign for cat and baby, to show her trainers she understood the kittens were her adopted children. Then she asked if she could put one of them on her head.

Despite having such a big hands, Koko gently cuddled the kittens in the carton box. After taking them out, she played and cuddled with them. It brought her much happiness and joy, and not only awoke her maternal instinct and a wish to play, but also made her communicate with her trainers more frequently. By the way, Koko can understand more than 1000 Language Signs and since she has been listening to English language from the early age, she can understand 2000 of American Sign Language.
