The type of dog pictured here is a “bully whippet,” a type of whippet with a genetic mutation that makes it more muscular and faster than standard ones.
Wendy, the bully whippet in this photograph, lives in Victoria, British Columbia, and is remarkable in that she has two mutated copies of the gene and is therefore a “double-muscled” bully whippet who weighs twice as much as a standard one. The increased muscle mass, along with metabolism and extremely low levels of body fats, can translate to impressive super-feats, including marked increases in speed, agility and power.

A mutation isn’t exactly natural, it’s a werid anomoly that really shouldn’t happen. The poor dog is most likely going to die young and in pain.
Stupid, even mutations can be natural and most of the time they even are! You missed biology lessons, missy. And nobody tells that is dog has to die young, nobody knows, we cannot predict his future, we can just say that possibly something that we say is going to happen with a very high chance. There is no 100% chance, never in nature and environment.
But of course and that’s why I agree with you partly: human forced mutations and nuclear mutations (which basically is human forced, too) are not natural.

First off, a genetic mutation by definition is something that is happening in the genetic code that is “unnatural” in origin. Just because it can occur in nature, doesn’t mean it is or isn’t natural, so Mandy was right about that. Secondly, she did not say “this dog WILL die at a young age” she said “The poor dog is MOST LIKELY going to die young and in pain.” So your little “Friedrich Nietzsche” rant about there being no absolutes, achieved nothing other than heighten your appearance of ignorance. Genetic mutation is entirely natural…it is NOT by “definition” unnatural. In fact, it’s perhaps the most natural thing in the world. Why do you think there are so many breeds of dogs in the first place? Mutations through selective breeding. Why are polar bears white? Mutations.
As for people getting all down and depressed, there is nothing in this image or posting that indicates the dog is unhappy, unhealthy or likely to die young. It’s just really super muscular, so people ought to chill the out.

This is Wendy, the dog whose appearance is a long way from the usual long, lean and sleek look of her breed.
She was born with a genetic defect which has left her looking like the Incredible Hulk of Hounds.
While her head, heart, lungs and legs are the size of those of a normal whippet, her gene defect means she is “double muscled”.
She weighs 4st4lb – twice as much as she should – and has bulging neck muscles, burly shoulders and haunches like a baboon. And unlike ordinary whippets known for their lithe and narrow frame, this four-year-old pedigree doesn’t just have a sixpack stomach, she has a 24-pack.

Sadly, her mixed-up genes mean she may have a shorter life expectancy than most breeds.
But while she may look oddly menacing, her doting owner Ingrid Hansen claims the giant pooch likes nothing better than clambering up on to your lap to have her back scratched.
“People have referred to her as Arnold Schwarzenegger,” she said.
“She’s healthy and happy. That’s all that counts.
“She doesn’t know she’s got a genetic defect. She might give you a nasty lick, that’s all.”
The whippet, who lives on a farm in Victoria, Canada, has been the subject of an American genetics study. Although the dogs are customarily bred for hunting, racing and showing, Wendy enjoys a slower pace of life.
She spends her days prowling around the fields, chasing other dogs and horses and sleeping on her owner’s bed.
This week the Daily Mail reported on another canine phenomenon, 19st10lb Samson.
A cross between a Great Dane and a Newfoundland, the dog from Boston, Lincolnshire, is 37in at the shoulder and stands 6ft5in on his hind legs.

In order for it to have bulging muscles like that, it would have to take steroids, eat protein powder, and do a body-builder work-out regimen (which you’re NOT going to get any dog to do!). I am calling B.S. on this “photo”. It is most definitely PHOTOSHOPPED! You cannot convince me otherwise because this dog cannot, and does not exist! It is someones fantasy.

Actually such a mutation, if it could happen, which it can’t, would cause the fetus to either abort, or be stillborn. Nature has such methods to keep FREAKS from being born! Double gene mutations really do happen. in fact domestic dogs have more then 10 copies of the same gene that allows them to produce an enzyme which breaks down starch. you may call it a unnatural mutant freak of nature but it isnt. genetic variation happens all the time, its as natural as you and me, without it species wouldnt even be a thing. there would be 1 type of bacteria and that it.. the genes would pass down. though theres no guarantee its a dominant gene type. i cannot personally say if this story is bull or not, but if you have ever seen what steak cattle look like. you would be inclined to belive it, that are cows that look as though they are on steroids. but its natural. they wouldnt survive in the wild because of their high energy requirements. but its still natural. source= im a biologist
